#16

Happy to say this one is a finish! Think I counted 112 cherries - give or take a few...stayed with my red and green theme even though this called for purples.
Just did some simple stem stitch embroidery first and then tried arranging the cherries as close to the diagram as possible.
I am also toying around with the idea of doing some sort of inked inscription in the center, but not sure yet - that can wait.
Back to #8 and all those leaves - the block I have been avoiding.
And a big thank you again to everyone who has shared their images and experiences at the Infinite Variety/Red and White Quilts exhibit. I have been like a sponge soaking everything in...
Happy stitching everyone and have a great weekend!

  2. This is fabulous. I like the idea of something inside this block, Maybe stitch your initials? or a date? Hey, block 8 zipped by, the leaves are small and fast!

  3. I still see grapes when I look at your blocks - I hope you don't mind! You did a beautiful job. I counted 112, too. An inked center would be fabulous!

  6. There are real red grapes ya know! I love how your block turned out and an inscription in the middle would be perfect.

  7. Sensational. So much work but so refined. I love it! What will you write?

  10. I have a few more of my cherries (not grapes!) to put in place. I have procrastinated a big bit on this one. Glad others saw these as cherries too.

  11. I vote for grapes, too. Especially with the grape vine around them. Nice work!

  12. I didn't see grapes or cherries--I saw lots of hard work! Hmm--you gave me ideas of what to put in the middle. I just got a book on what to put on a quilt when you make--they suggest the year and your name. So in 150 years someone will look at my quilt and say--__________________!!

  13. Well, now you all have me thinking - the suggestion to stitch - with embroidery floss? sounds like a nice idea. I am comfortable with Pigma Pens & even took a class from Susan McKelvey, eons ago...but if there would be an inked mistake after all those circles...I am liking the idea of using matching floss a lot more! Thanks everyone!

  14. I'm with taylorsoutback, floss looks like a good idea, knowing my luck the pigma pen will blot or something. I'm not someone to put my name and date on the front though, usually on a label stitched into the back, so most probably will think about an appropriate poem or saying to go in the centre of mine.
