One Block Closer to Finished

Here is Block 20 in the pattern. It's my 18th block.
I'm leaving the embroidery to the end, although I might kick myself when I get to it.
I found a block in this quilt that I'm going to use in this pattern.
Seven more blocks to go and then onto the borders.  I prepped a pile of cherries last night and now I need to prep some more grapes.  Then I'm going to start cutting out the leaves for the border; I've got the cherries all ready for them.  I'm thinking about putting my initials and the date in the border applique.  I'll have to ponder that for awhile.  How is everyone else dating their quilt?  Is anyone else inking in the center of the grapes like Lori did?

My #25 is done.

#25 is finished.  Here it is.

My bird is a little fancier and that is only  because I wanted to work around the paisley as feathers.

Now I am going to try and figure out how to use the mosaic picture thingy so that I can show all my blocks together, so I'll be back once I finish that.

All the blocks

Here are all my blocks sewn together.  Now it's on to the borders.  I posted more, but not much,  about it on my blog this morning.

If anyone (Sharon!!!) can reduce the size of the picture in my last post form x-large to large, I'd appreciate it.  When I saw the size, I couldn't find a place to edit it.

Block 22

This is really block 17 for me, but it's listed as #22 in the pattern range.  I took a bit of "artistic liberties" on this block, it just seemed to need more color.  I can't believe I have 17 blocks done.  I started my blocks 16 months ago, so I'm feeling so good about being on task with this project.

Please keep posting as you work through your quilt, seeing the 25 blocks all done by Lori really is motivation to stick to this pattern.  Liz is sending me a pattern to add into this quilt as I've punted a couple of blocks that just don't make my skirt fly up!

Block 25

block 25

Here's my last block.  I changed a few things on it but it's basically the pattern.  I put in colonial knots instead of circles in the center of the layered flowers.  I thought about using French knots but colonial knots have a bit more dimension so I went with them.  I separated the sections of the bow a bit to give it a more folk art feel since there are a few other blocks that have that.  And I changed a few of the colors.  The light when I took the picture did funny things to the colors I used - the background is a very light Kona muslin and the pink isn't nearly that hot.

Last night, I cut out my freezer paper templates for the leaves on the three borders we have so far.  I have the berries all cut out and will work on some of those tonight while I watch TV.  I plan to trim up the blocks and stitch them together tomorrow.

Block 25

Here it is-sideways just like the original! LOL Will anybody put there's in the quilt this way?

I used an online mosaic to play with the setting a little. I'm not going to go insane about it. I think this is how my blocks will be going together.

Woo-Hoo!! One more border!!

Size of border vines?

A quick question-thought I would start making up the yards of bias vines for the borders. Looking at our pattern the Clover 1/2" bias maker looks close if not right on. Those of you that have worked on the borders - how wide are you making your vines.
Thanks much - Pat in Northern Wisconsin

#21 done?

I am still debating whether or not I want to add that little bird.  It will be a tight squeeze.

You will, also, notice that I didn't add the  little ....whatever they are....drapey things at the top of the  vase.  My fabric is a bit busy and I didn't think it needed it.

Everything was  appliqued onto this block and then I had to do this.

Cherries, cherries everywhere.  I think that is why I kind of kept holding off on doing this block, but it really wasn't that bad.  I actually made three different sizes.

Now....what do you think these represent?  We have a few other vases/baskets that have the same thing.

My green ones don't show up well on this fabric.  I am going to say they must be jewels.  Yeah, that sounds good.

Well, it may be block #21, but it's my 24th block.  Now on to the last block.  Can you believe it?  It's been a very long journey.  Once we are done with these quilts, I am going to think it was well worth the wait.

I envy those of you who did their borders already, but I am going to do mine scrappy and really felt that I needed to wait until I sewed the center together so I knew how to place the scrappy pieces for the border.  Which brings me to another design decision on this quilt.....I am going to be placing my blocks in a pleasing "background" order rather than follow the order of the original quilt. What about you gals?

Ok...onto the next block.

Yeah! Three More Blocks...

So happy to share three more completed blocks...seems like forever since I could say that. So until we get #25 (tomorrow??) I only have 2 more blocks to do!

Wishing I would have balanced the cherry clusters better, but pretty much followed the pattern placement. They are staying put!

Happy stitching everyone.
