Block 5 For Me
For some reason Blogger was not working for me yesterday and most of today. I finished this one on Tuesday and I really like it. I fussy cut the red flowers which was fun and a last minute decision. I did not mind the little "fingers".

Checking One More Off The List
One more finished! This was really not that hard but took me a while in between other projects. I am not looking forward to all the cherries in the border. I posted a tutorial on my blog about how to make circle using the Perfect Circles if anyone needs to know.

4 blocks done
In the comments some one asked to see all of my blocks together....sorry the colors look a little washed out. I am still working on the bottom left hand side block, no cherries on it yet!
The way I did the center flower on the vase block was not something I would recommend. I did it right on the block and it got a little "poufy". I also trimmed each back of each flower to eliminate the bulk. I usually do the "off block method", that is a good way to do it with multiple pieces on top of each other. First you start with your cut out shape of the top piece #1, applique it to the fabric of the second piece without first cutting the shape of piece #2. After piece one is appliqued I trim away the extra fabric from the backof piece #1, then you trace out piece #2 so you can get fabric #1 exactly centered and then applique it to fabric #3. You continue in that way until all the pieces are appliqued and then you applique it to the block. Does that make sense? If possible I will try and do it as a tutorial, when I get a chance. It is a lot easier than how I explained it!

One More
I have been very slow with these blocks...the next few I have together are easy ones....hopefully they will go a little faster!

Block Number 3
I finally settled on a fabric for the vase. This does still look a little busy in the picture but goes well with my other 2 blocks. I like busy and scrappy!
This was my orignal fabric choice for the vase but it felt just a little too "light".
This was my second choice because I really really like this fabric! Again it did not feel balanced and needed a little grounding.
Lesson learned...you can always use a favorite fabric somewhere else but go with that which makes the block "work"! Now to the stitching.

Opinions Wanted
This is my next block that is just laid out, nothing is set in stone here. I am unsure about the vase. Do you think it is too light? Maybe it should be a darker fabric? I really like this red dot fabric and really want to use it but I am questioning the value of it.
I may or may not change it but thought I would ask. Thanks!

Pot of Flowers
My second block is done. I think I am going to leave off the little green part that goes underneath the flowers. I can always put it on later if I want. The flowers are a polka dot fabric that I centered the white dot in the middle.
These are the two blocks together. I noticed in the picture that the background polka dot has a direction to it! I will need to make sure they are all going the same way. I am really enjoying these blocks and the colors are very seasonal!!

First Block
I have finished my first block and am happy with the results.
This was technically my first block that I started last year. I was not happy with the fabric. It was too thick and just did not lay right so I gave up and put it in the "to do someday" pile. I am much happier now that I have decided to use prints!
I am so glad I found this blog it is spurring me on to work on the blocks.

I Am Ready To Go!
I have my stack of fabrics and am ready to go! I have been collecting this block ever since it first came out last year. I made the first block and really did not like my fabric choices, so I put it away. I have always wanted a red and green quilt but have never been able to find a nice red and green solid I like. I think these are going to work. I am planning on getting the first block together tonight.
