Hello Cherry Tree friends. I have not posted for ages, and I have finally decided to resurrect this project. I stopped at 20 blocks, as they were starting to look much the same. I am now starting to trace off the borders and will start with the RHS border. The top and bottom will be adjusted to suit the less number of blocks I have.
Does anyone have any special tips for the borders? Did you do the bits of embroidered stems?

ReplyDeleteGreat to see your post ! You are far more experienced with applique than I. Because I am a novice, I cut sheets of freezer wrap to match the sides of my completed top. Traced the pattern on to the sheets and made adjustments to fit (which pleasantly worked!!) i thought about changing the corners to flow more traditionally but ended up staying with the original quilters layout. Yes, also embroidered all the stems and it was fun choosing which cherry to put where from the little box I kept them. Now have 10 more blocks to finish hand quilting & then the borders - I am so slow at hand quilting.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see that someone is getting this blog rolling again I had just checked it out before Christmas and was sad to see that it had been nearly a year since anyone posted. I love my quilt. I wish I had the patience of Pat who is hand quilting this, but hers will definitely be special to her when it is done. Please keep posting. I want to see your progress. As for embroidering the stems.....? I'd have to go and look to see if I did or not. It's been way too long ago.

ReplyDeleteI'm still hand quilting mine. Started Jan 1, 2013...........and still a ways to go. All center blocks are outlined, 9 center blocks have cross hatching done. I'm still slowing getting it done, one stitch at a time.
