If I didn't like those little fingers so much I think I would just skip that block.
I was just wondering what method of applique everyone is using to do the fingers. I have been using the freezer paper on top method but don't seem to be getting as nice an effect as I would like. Some of the seams you turn under are so small in-between the fingers I am wondering if they are going to last.
But enough of this whining.....off to stitch.
Great block, I enjoyed stitching this one too. Funny how you made 2 sides short one leaf. I did the same thing, then checked the pattern and there is only one side short a leaf. I think a few of us did this, hmmmmm. OK, I used back basting for the pineapple blocks. I tested my method of basting to freezer paper on the back, and there was no way, so I tested back basting needle turn and that was the best method for me. I think most everyone did either regular needle turn or b.b. needle turn. Check out earlier posts and read up on some tips people have posted.
ReplyDeleteYou did a nice job! I like the way you arranged the reds at the ends. My pattern is one leaf shy on two stems so mine looks like this, too.
ReplyDeletethis one is about the easiest of the blocks. Looks good. The fingers - I did mine back-basting as well. However, if you don;t mind close scrutiny, you could do the fingers as seperate strips of fabric, bias maybe, then put a "cap" over each one. In the long run it will look the same, just up close.....not sure. Wendy
ReplyDeleteI like your block so much. I've been doing needle turn applique for all of the blocks so far. I'm about ready to make a major change though.:)
