No, this isn't mine, but take a look at what someone in Florida has done with this pattern. Look here for the finished project and here for her block by block.
Stunning! I have been following Erin's progress since you posted the link a few months ago Sharon. hers is the inspiration for my deviation from the original. Kate
Sharon's got hyperlinks in her post (click on the "here" and "here") but here's the address: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/578332849eOznhy K
I have been following the maker all her quilts are exquisite!! Just found your blog through Empty Fields so glad I can see so many versions in progress I am not working on this yet but have been watching Wendy`s progress through Repro group on yahoo. All your blocks are gorgeous you are all so talented to be able to change your blocks to suite your quilt wonderful designers
I was drawn to this quilt because it was predominetely red andn green. The blue and brown is nice, but I wouldn't ever have started it if the original were in those colors.
I agree with everyone's comments. Especially Lori's. It's the rad/green/cheddar that has capitvated me. I"ve been buying the "state" books on quilts, just ordered the Texas one. Looking at the vintage quilts gives me the incentive to be less precise. I'm hoping this will become a "best" quilt and will be around a 100 years from now. Maybe people will say, "was she crazy, all the machines and she did it by hand!"
Am also taken with the red and green composition - but what a spectacular setting the quilter chose to showcase her blocks... Thank you for the links. Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday around the globe and so looking forward to the quiet stitching days which will come with the New Year!
I have seen this collection of blocks before. This lady is a member of my list ReproFabricLovers on Yahoo. I am a traditional quilter, but I do love to see it when some one makes a change. Wendy W
