No, don't get excited thinking you are going to see my Block #3 finished. This one is a lot of work. Here is my progress, I have 2 more stems to applique, then to back baste the bottom part of the motif. What are these, anyways?
This has been much easier, making cherries for the border. My paper pieces arrived and this company did a custom cut for me so they may have the 1" circles on their website now. This is an easy project to do while at a guild meeting or watching tv.
I hope you have all had a few minutes to stitch this weekend. We get an extra hour tomorrow, yeah!

Looking good Sharon,
ReplyDeletehow very forward thinking of you to start making cherries for the border - doing them over paper is definitely the way to go, always get a good result that way, a wee bit of spray starch and a light press helps too.

Sharon I think they are pineapples? but not sure...they are looking good. I love circles I think they add a lot to the design.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened? Have I lost my marbles or have you lost your blog?
ReplyDeleteThis one's pretty, but very different.
I think they are pineapples too. the bottom part is a bit trickey. After I had done them, I thought that it might have been easier to do them as long fingers of fabric, then cover the base with a curved shape. the final shape would be the same. Good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteSharon, looking good! I am pretty sure they are pineapples, too. I think you are going to motivate me to get going on those border cherries. Can't wait to see the finished block.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, What site did you order your circles from? Also, would someone tell me where I can see the entire quilt, including the border? I haven't been sure where to find it. Duh. Michele
ReplyDeleteLove your pineapples and your berries!! Woo-Hoo!!
ReplyDeleteSharon, can you give me some pros and cons regarding the paper templates versus the plastic templates (Perfect Circles)? I have never used the paper ones and am very curious. I would like to hear what you or anyone else has to say about them before I order. Thanks. By the way, I have just cut out quite a few circles. Now I have to start that running stitch!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon - have made a start on Block #1 & have it posted on 11/7/10 blog - but not sure how to add the photo link to this site? The BTCT button works okay though.
ReplyDeleteOh forgot to mention - Perfect Circles are also available through Connecting Threads - I received my order very promptly - less than a week.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Paper Pieces site. I have bought from them before. they are very helpful. to order 2 packs of 100 the cost for post to Australia is $7, which is very reasonable I think. I will order, but not just yet
