My paper pieces finally came in the mail today so I am giving them a try with the cherries that I had gathered a little while back.
I wasn't sure how I would like the paper templates. I have never used them before, but they seem to be working well, so I am glad I took the jump. Hopefully I will have all 130 gathered and pressed this evening.
Happy quilting.
I didn't press or starch mine. I figure they will sit like this for a year and by that time the crease will be permanent. Gotta run, my dog is pawing at me which means we need to go for a walk, right now.
ReplyDelete130 in an evening? wow I'm impressed!! Clearly your evenings are longer than mine! I like doing circles over paper - they do turn out more circlish.
ReplyDeleteMimi, you set a fast pace! We will have to call you "Dear Leader". I like the idea of preparing all the cherries but I am unsure what fabrics I will be using throughout the quilt. Also, are you sure of the size? I have never used mylar and find the cardboard circles satisfactory. Let us know how you go tonight.
ReplyDelete130 in a night? Wow, that is a cracking pace! I think I will wait a little further along the way before I worry about them.
ReplyDelete130 in a night is only because I already had them cut out and the running stitch in place. I was just waiting for the paper templates, so all I had to do last night was put them in place, pull the thread and press. I was surprised that I liked the paper templates as much as I did. I was afraid that they would crumple under the pressure of my pulling up the thread. So...all 130 are done. Now the next time I don't have anything going, I will make up another 40 or so and be ready. The size....was just a guess. I looked at one of our completed blocks from the "whole quilt picture" and compared to the border and that is how I came up with that. I may do that with the leaves a little later.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. It must feel great to have that all under control. Now, whatever you do, put them somewhere where you won't lose them!
